JUSTIFICATION:
The Cattaraugus County Legislature adopted Resolution No. 2512021 on
June 9, 2021, requesting that the New York State Legislature adopt
special legislation regarding this parcel of land. The County has
explored many options in relation to the property including, but not
limited to, timber harvest and recreational use. Access to the property
and continued maintenance of the property are ongoing issues for the
county and are among the reasons cited by the New York State Department
of Conservation as to why they would not be willing to take ownership of
the land. The county seeks any means legally available to discontinue
its ownership of this land.
