TITLE OF BILL:
An act in relation to establishing a Monroe county housing advocate
pilot program; and providing for the repeal of such provisions upon
expiration thereof
 
SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:
Section 1: Establishes a Monroe county housing advocate pilot program to
provide information and resources on housing matters to residents of
Monroe county.
Section 2: Establishes the effective date.
 
JUSTIFICATION:
Housing impacts the lives of every person. Housing instability can lead
to mental health issues, public safety problems, and runs counterintui-
tive to anti-poverty efforts. This issue disproportionately affects
Black, Hispanic, and Asian New Yorkers the most. This bill, by creating
a housing advocate pilot program for Monroe County, will help provide
much needed education and resources to those in the region looking to
secure housing, navigate landlord issues, and receive legal or social
services assistance.

EFFECTIVE DATE:
This act shall take effect on the thirtieth day after it shall have
become a law and shall expire and be deemed repealed two years after
such effective date.
