TITLE OF BILL:
An act to amend the education law, in relation to requiring the filing
and posting of required ancillary agreements on school district and
charter school websites
 
PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL:
This bill requires filing and posting of required ancillary agreements
on the school and school district websites.
 
SUMMARY OF SPECIFIC PROVISIONS:
Section 1 amends Section 2116-a by adding a new subdivision 5 S 2.
Subdivision 1 of section 2854 of the education law is amended by adding
a new paragraph (g)
 
JUSTIFICATION:
In order for parents/guardians to make informed educational decisions,
they must be adequately informed about a school's expectations and
required agreements regarding culture, conduct, and participation within
the school community. This information helps guide families in how they
select a school community to join. As each individual student or family
has different needs and educational expectations, schools' expectations
and required agreements vat), as well, and having this information
up-front and available would assist in the school selection process.
This legislation achieves this by requiring that all schools file and
publicly post copies of all agreements that students and
parents/guardians are required to sign in order to attend such school.
