TITLE OF BILL:
An act in relation to directing the state energy planning board to
conduct a study on the time frames for replacing or upgrading battery
energy storage systems at renewable energy facilities
 
PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL:
Directs the state energy planning board to conduct a study on time
frames for preparing renewable energy facilities for clean energy stor-
age and distribution.
 
SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:
Section 1. For the purposes of this act, "renewable energy facility"
shall have the same meaning as renewable energy systems as defined in
section 66-p of the public service law.
Section 2. The state energy planning board is hereby directed to conduct
a study on preparing renewable energy facilities for the distribution of
clean energy.
 
JUSTIFICATION:
This Bill will serve as a study to allow the authorities to create a
comprehensive data collection system, to allow for the more efficient
battery storage system to be in place.
This study will serve as the starting point for inspections and energy
distribution monitoring to aid in creating an efficient and profitable
system helping NYS reach its climate goals and providing the most cost
effective and clean energy efficient process annually.
This study also creates a level of transparency for the public to see
the information through the NYS website to see the data that is being
collected and the safety aspects being used to maintain maximum harm
prevention.
