SPONSOR: MATTERA

TITLE OF BILL:
An act to amend the vehicle and traffic law and the general business
law, in relation to required accident damage reporting

PURPOSE:
Is to make sure that all information is included on a report from a
motor vehicle condition reporting agency when an accident occurs

SUMMARY:
Section 1: Amends section 604 of the vehicle and traffic law.
Section 2: Vehicle and traffic law is amended to add new section 607
Section 3: General Business law is amended to add new section 399-vv
Section 4: Effective Date

JUSTIFICATION:
When someone gets a report from a motor vehicle reporting agency not all
information, pertaining to an accident is on there. An individual who is
purchasing a used vehicle should know as much about the vehicles history
as they can. This bill will require that information be provided to a
motor vehicle reporting agency to include cost or estimate cost of
repairs for any damage incurred by a vehicle that has been in an acci-
dent. Alternatively, if no damage was incurred by the vehicle as result
of an accident that too will be reported. I a buyer should have the
right to know everything they can when purchasing a use vehicle and this
is one tool that will help with that.
