TITLE OF BILL:
An act to amend the veterans' services law, in relation to requiring all
forms issued to the public by the state include an optional question
regarding veteran status
PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL::
The purpose of this bill is to help connect veterans to services and
resources that are already available to them.
SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS::
The bill amends the veterans' services law to allow for the sharing of
contact information upon consent for the purpose of connecting a veteran
to services and resources available to them.
JUSTIFICATION::
Very few veterans seek out the services and resources to which they are
already entitled. This bill gives the veteran the option of consenting
to be contacted by the New York State Department of Veterans' Services
should they wish to avail themselves of these services and resources.
