BILL NUMBER: S2066
SPONSOR: LIU

TITLE OF BILL:
An act to amend the administrative code of the city of New York, in
relation to enforcement

PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL:
To ensure that violations issued by the New York City Department of
Sanitation are supplemented with photo evidence of the violation

SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:
Section 1 of the bill amends subdivision a of section 16-324 of the
administrative code of the city of New York by adding paragraph 6 which
requires the department of sanitation to provide a time-stamped photo-
graph to be mailed with each alleged violation.
Section 2 sets the effective date.

JUSTIFICATION:
Currently, there is no requirement for the Department of Sanitation to
provide evidence of alleged violations. This leaves residents vulnerable
to unjustified fines or violations with little grounds on which to
appeal to the Environmental Control Board. This provision would give
residents photographic evidence of alleged violations and make the
appeals process more efficient.

FISCAL IMPLICATIONS:
None
