TITLE OF BILL:
CONCURRENT RESOLUTION OF THE SENATE AND ASSEMBLY proposing an amendment
to section 2 of article 3 of the constitution, in relation to increasing
the terms of office of members of the legislature to four years
 
PURPOSE:
A constitutional amendment to increase the terms of office of members of
the legislature to four years
 
SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:
This bill amends section 2 of article 3 of the constitution to increase
the terms of members of the legislature to four years.
 
JUSTIFICATION:
The purpose of this bill is to lessen the distraction within the legis-
lative process of the electoral pressures exerted by the existing two
year terms.

EFFECTIVE DATE:
This act shall take effect after being referred to the first regular
legislative session convening after the next succeeding general election
of members of the assembly, and, in conformity with section 1 article 19
of the constitution, be published for 3 months previous to the time of
such election.
