TITLE OF BILL:
An act in relation to authorizing Christopher Walser to take the compet-
itive civil service examination for the position of police officer and
be placed on the eligible list for employment as a full-time police
officer for the village of Skaneateles police department
PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL:
This legislation would allow for Christopher Walser to complete the
civil service examination for the position of police officer, despite
the age requirement.
SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:
Section 1. Allow for Christopher Walser to be eligible under civil
service law, including the age requirement under paragraph (a) of subdi-
vision 1, for the civil service examination for the position of police
officer. Should Christopher Walser score accordingly, he will be placed
on the eligible list for appointment as a police officer with the
village of Skaneateles police department.
Section 2. Christopher Walser will be subject to the merit and fitness
provisions of the civil service law applicable to full-time police offi-
cers.
Section 3. Effective Date
JUSTIFICATION:
Christopher Walser served as a police officer in North Carolina before
moving to New York State. However, his certifications did not transfer
across state lines, and he would like the opportunity to serve the resi-
dents of the village of Skaneateles by continuing his work as a police
officer.
