TITLE OF BILL:
An act in relation to authorizing Christopher Walser and Matthew Patire
to each take the competitive civil service examination for the position
of police officer and be placed on the eligible list for employment as a
full-time police officer for the village of Skaneateles police depart-
ment
PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL:
This legislation would allow for Christopher Walser and Matthew Patire
to complete the civil service examination for the position of police
officer, despite the age requirement.
SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:
Section 1. Allow for Christopher Walser and Matthew Patire to be eligi-
ble under civil service law, including the age requirement under para-
graph (a) of subdivision 1, for the civil service examination for the
position of police officer. Should Christopher Walser and Matthew Patire
score accordingly, they will be placed on the eligible list for appoint-
ment as a police officer with the village of Skaneateles police depart-
ment.
Section 2. Christopher Walser and Matthew Patire will be subject to the
merit and fitness provisions of the civil service law applicable to
full-time police officers.
Section 3. Effective Date
JUSTIFICATION:
Christopher Walser and Matthew Patire would like the opportunity to
serve the residents of the village of Skaneateles by continuing his work
as a police officer. However, they have aged out of the Civil Service
Exam. This bill was introduced at the request of the Skaneateles Police
Department.
