BILL NUMBER: S1185
SPONSOR: ADDABBO

TITLE OF BILL:
An act to amend the tax law and the state finance law, in relation to
gifts for the support of congressional chartered veterans service organ-
izations

PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL:
To create a voluntary contribution on the state personal income tax
return for congressional chartered veterans service organizations.

SUMMARY OF SPECIFIC PROVISIONS:
Section 1 adds section 630-i to the tax law, which creates the option to
contribute to the congressional chartered veterans service organizations
fund in New York State personal income tax returns.
Section 2 adds section 99-ii to the state finance law, which creates the
Veterans Service Organizations Fund.

JUSTIFICATION:
Veterans are entitled to certain services. Accessing these services can
be difficult, though. Congressional chartered Veterans' service organ-
izations help cut through the red tape and connect veterans with the
services that they have earned.. By allowing taxpayers to voluntarily
contribute to the Veterans Service Organizations Fund, we are providing
budget-neutral support to our veterans.
