TITLE OF BILL:
An act to amend the cannabis law, in relation to cannabis showcase event
permits; and to amend a chapter of the laws of 2024 amending the canna-
bis law relating to authorizing a cannabis showcase event permit, as
proposed in legislative bills numbers S. 9679-A and A. 10398-A, in
relation to the effectiveness thereof
 
PURPOSE:
This is a chapter amendment that makes changes to provisions of L.2024,
c.669, to amend the new Cannabis Showcase events permits by adding defi-
nitions, clarifying the number of and responsibilities of the cannabis
licensees involved, and allowing for pop-up cannabis showcase events.
 
SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:
Section one amends section 130-a of the Cannabis Law setting up the
Cannabis Showcase event permits to define the specific ratio of cannabis
cultivators and producers that need to be partnered with cannabis
retailers at these showcase events. This section also lays out some
definitions, clarifies which licensees can retail at these events, and
allows for pop-up Cannabis Showcase events, alongside events at farmers
markets and other markets.
Section 2 amends the effective date of Chapter 669 to 120 days, and
allows the Office of Cannabis Management (0CM) to issue any necessary
regulations.
Section 3 is the effective date.

None.
 
JUSTIFICATION:
This legislation is a negotiated change to the underlying chapter.
 
LEGISLATIVE HISTORY:
Chapter amendment to Chapter 669 of the Laws of 2024. S.9679-A and
A.10398-A both passed the Senate and Assembly in June 2024.
 
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS:
None
 
EFFECTIVE DATE:
This act shall take effect immediately; provided, however,,that,section
one of this act shall take effect on the same date and in the same
manner as a chapter of the laws of 2024 amending the cannabis law relat-
ing to authorizing a cannabis showcase event permit, as proposed in
legislative bills numbers S. 9679-A and A. 10398-A, takes effect.
