TITLE OF BILL:
An act to amend the public health law, in relation to recommendations of
the traumatic brain injury services coordinating council; and to repeal
a chapter of the laws of 2024 directing the commissioner of health and
the commissioner of the office for people with developmental disabili-
ties to conduct a study of the delivery of services to individuals with
traumatic brain injury, as proposed in legislative bills numbers S. 1478
and A. 7215
 
PURPOSE:
This is a chapter amendment that makes changes to L.2024, c.642, to
clarify provisions related to conducting a study on the delivery of
traumatic brain injury services.
 
SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:
This bill amends the underlying chapter by eliminating the formal study
and incorporating the requirements of the study into the mandate of the
Traumatic Brain Injury Services Coordinating Council (TBISCC). The bill
also requires the TBISCC to publish its recommendations annually on the
Department of Health's website.
 
JUSTIFICATION:
This legislation is a negotiated change to the underlying chapter.
 
LEGISLATIVE HISTORY:
Chapter amendment to Chapter 642 of the Laws of 2024. S.1478 and A.7215
both passed the Senate and Assembly during the 2024 Legislative Session.
 
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS:

EFFECTIVE DATE:
This act shall take effect on the same date and in the same manner as a
chapter of the laws of 2024 directing the Commissioner of Health and the
Commissioner of the Office for People with Developmental Disabilities to
conduct a study of the delivery of services to individuals with traumat-
ic brain injury, as proposed in legislative bills numbers S.1478 and
A.7215, takes effect.
