TITLE OF BILL:
An act to amend the correction law, in relation to breast cancer screen-
ing and diagnostic testing for incarcerated individuals
PURPOSE:
This is a chapter amendment that makes changes to provisions of L.2024,
c.570.
SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:
This legislation amends the underlying chapter by defining "nationally
recognized clinical practice guidelines" and incorporating these guide-
lines into breast cancer screenings and diagnostic testing offerings at
no-cost to incarcerated individuals, unless otherwise recommended by a
physician.

JUSTIFICATION:
Pursuant to approval memo 35 of 2024, the Executive stated that changes
were necessary to ensure that breast cancer screening and diagnostic
testing offerings were responsive to physician recommendations and in
accordance with national recognized clinical practice guidelines. This
legislation is a negotiated change to the underlying chapter that
addresses those concerns.

EFFECTIVE DATE:
This act shall take effect on the same date and in the same manner as in
Chapter 570 of the Laws of 2024, which take effect 180 days after signed
into law.
