TITLE OF BILL:
An act to amend the general business law, in relation to the develop-
ment of safety resources, information and protocols for lithium-ion
batteries
 
PURPOSE:
This is a chapter amendment to L.2024, c.200, to make technical changes
for clarity and consistency with similar laws regarding lithium-ion
batteries.
 
SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:
This legislation amends the underlying chapter by modifying the
provisions to appropriately reference section one hundred twenty-one-b
of the vehicle and traffic law for the definition of limited use motor-
cycles.
 
EXISTING LAW:
None.
 
JUSTIFICATION:
This legislation is a negotiated change to the underlying chapter.
 
LEGISLATIVE HISTORY:
Chapter amendment to Chapter 200 of the Laws of 2024. S.8743 and A.9338,
both passed the Senate and Assembly, respectfully, in March and May
2024.
 
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS:
None
 
EFFECTIVE DATE:
This act shall take effect on the same date and in the same manner as a
chapter of the laws of 2024 amending the general business law, in
relation to the development of safety resources, information and proto-
cols for lithium-ion batteries, as proposed in legislative bills numbers
S.8743 and A.9338, takes effect.
