TITLE OF BILL:
An act to amend the executive law, in relation to hazardous materials
emergency response training for incidents involving lithium-ion
batteries
PURPOSE:
This is a chapter amendment to L.2024, c.199, to make technical changes
for clarity and consistency with similar laws regarding lithium-ion
batteries.
SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:
This legislation amends the underlying chapter by modifying the
provisions to appropriately reference section 495 of the general busi-
ness law in regards to the definition of lithium-ion battery.
EXISTING LAW:
None.
JUSTIFICATION:
This legislation is a negotiated change to the underlying chapter.
LEGISLATIVE HISTORY:
Chapter amendment to Chapter 199 of the Laws of 2024. 5.8742 and A.9337,
both passed the Senate and Assembly, respectfully, in March and May
2024.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS:
None
EFFECTIVE DATE:
This act shall take effect on the same date and in the same manner as a
chapter of the laws of 2024 amending the executive law, in relation to
hazardous materials emergency response training for incidents involving
lithium-ion batteries, as proposed in legislative bills numbers S.8742
and A.9337, takes effect.
