PURPOSE:
This bill would require that the manufacture date of motor vehicle tires
be included on the consumer's receipt when purchased.
 
SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:
Section I. The general business law is amended by adding a new section
391-x to include the receipt of the sale of motor vehicle tires for
providing the manufacture date of tires purchased.
Section 2. Sets for the effective date.
 
JUSTIFICATION:
Currently, the manufacture date of motor vehicle tires appears only on
the tire itself. There have been cases of tires not passing annual
inspection due to the fact they were old tires being sold as new.
Having that date also appear on the consumer's receipt when purchased
will prevent this from happening.
