SPONSOR: COMRIE
TITLE OF BILL:
An act to amend the alcoholic beverage control law, in relation to
requiring the chair of the state liquor authority to make certain quar-
terly reports
PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL:
Relates to requiring the chairman of the state liquor authority to make
certain quarterly reports.
SUMMARY OF SPECIFIC PROVISIONS:
Section 1. Section 18 of the alcoholic beverage control law is amended
by adding a new subdivision 16 to read as follows: To make quarterly
reports to the governor and the legislature of its enforcement activ-
ities for the preceding quarter.
JUSTIFICATION:
Anecdotal evidence points to the conclusion that The New York State
liquor Authority does not have equal and equitable enforcement stand-
ards, with respect to certain critical criteria, including the geograph-
ical location of establishments, and the demographic makeup of communi-
ties. The only way we can improve the system, is to collect actionable
data.
