PURPOSE:
The purpose of this bill is to require each board of elections to
receive the monthly reports of death certificates from the departments
of health.
SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:
Section 1. amends subdivision 3 of section 4140 of the public health law
to provide that the information shall be transmitted to each board of
elections within the state.
Section 2. is the enacting clause.
JUSTIFICATION:
This bill aims to address the issue of inaccurate voter rolls by lever-
aging the existing infrastructure of the Department of Health. This
bill will include all boards of elections in the monthly reports
concerning death certificates that are already provided to the state
board of elections. This will provide vital information to update the
voter rolls, ensuring they reflect the current and accurate status of
residents.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS:
None.
EFFECTIVE DATE:
This act shall take effect on the thirtieth day after it shall have
become a law.
