TITLE OF BILL:
An act to amend the executive law, in relation to requiring certain
state police vehicles to carry and offer use of jumper cables
PURPOSE:
This legislation requires certain state police vehicles to carry jumper
cables and requires officers operating such vehicles offer to use such
jumper cables on disabled vehicles.
SUMMARY OF SPECIFIC PROVISIONS:
Section 1 requires certain state police vehicles to carry jumper cables
and requires officers operating such vehicles offer to use such jumper
cables on disabled vehicles.
Section 2 establishes the effective date.
JUSTIFICATION:
Dead battery problems for stranded drivers could be easily fixed if
state patrol cars, which are already required to help stranded drivers,
carry jumper cables. This bill would require state police vehicles

assist in powering the battery of a disabled vehicle.
