TITLE OF BILL:
An act to amend the general business law, in relation to prohibiting
persons from receiving compensation for advising or assisting with
veterans' benefits
 
PURPOSE:
To prevent veterans' benefits from consumer fraud and abuse.
 
SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:
Section 1: The general business law is amended by adding a new section
399-ppp
Section 2: Effective Date
 
JUSTIFICATION:
This bill seeks to protect our nation's veterans and their families from
fraud involving their well-deserved veterans' benefits. Private compa-
nies should never be allowed to take advantage of those who have served
our county and their families. These men and women have protected this
county from threats, and we should be protecting them when they need us.
This bill will help in making sure we do just that.
