TITLE OF BILL:
An act to amend the alcoholic beverage control law, in relation to
providing for a license to sell liquor at retail for consumption on
certain premises
 
PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL:
To amend the Alcoholic Beverage Control Law allowing the State Liquor
Authority to issue a license to a hotel located at 428 S 5th STREET,
BROOKLYN NY 11211 with the entrance located on SOUTH 5th STREET, just
southwest of HEWES STREET.
 
SUMMARY OF SPECIFIC PROVISIONS:
This bill amends subdivision 7 of section 64 of the Alcoholic Beverage
Control Law by adding a new paragraph which allows a license for on
premises consumption of alcoholic beverages at restaurants located with-
in the building which serves as a hotel but is within 200 feet of a
school
 
JUSTIFICATION:
This hotel has been operating since 2022 and currently is permitted to
serve beer and wine. They wish to obtain a liquor license. Since the
entrance is within 200 feet of BNYOS CHAYIL school, legislation allowing
an exemption is required. This application has the support of the Bnyos
Chayil school as well as other community members and organizations.
