TITLE OF BILL:
An act to amend the vehicle and traffic law, in relation to authorizing
the issuance of distinctive plates for medical technologists
 
PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL:
This legislation authorizes the Department of Motor Vehicles to issue a
distinctive license plate for medical technologists.
 
SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:
Section 1: Adds new section 404-ff to the vehicle and traffic law to
create distinctive plates for medical technologists.
Section 2: States that if upon the expiration of two years following the
date upon which distinctive plates in the series are first available for
sale, 200 or more sets of such plates are a bong delivered pursuant to
this section shall be discontinued.
Section 3: States the effective date.
 
JUSTIFICATION:
A medical technologist is a healthcare professional who performs diag-
nostic tests on tissue, cells, and bodily fluids and analyzes the
results. Medical technologists work in conjunction with healthcare
providers to diagnose patients.
Currently, medical doctors, nurses, and other medical professionals{1}
are eligible for distinctive license plates. This bill would create a
custom license plate for medical technologists to join the other medical
professions.
