BILL NUMBER: S9282
SPONSOR: STEC
TITLE OF BILL:
An act to amend the alcoholic beverage control law, in relation to an
exemption for certain property from the prohibition of alcohol sales
within a certain distance of a church
PURPOSE:
To permit an establishment at 171 Main Street, Hudson Falls, to obtain a
full liquor license. The restaurant and bar is within 200 feet of a
house of worship.
SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:
Section 1 - Amends subdivision 7 of section 64 of the Alcohol Beverage
Control Law to permit an establishment at 171 Main Street, in the
village of Hudson Falls, to obtain a full liquor license.
Section 2 - Provides effective date.
JUSTIFICATION:
The establishment is part of a growing number of businesses investing in
Hudson Falls' downtown. The fact that it's located 150 feet from a
church, on the other side of the main street, has resulted in the denial
of a full liquor license, though.
Officials from the church and the village have both expressed support in
writing for the business' liquor license application.
LEGISLATIVE HISTORY:

FISCAL IMPLICATIONS:
None
EFFECTIVE DATE:
This act shall take effect immediately.
