TITLE OF BILL:
An act to amend the general municipal law, in relation to authorizing
regional planning council's eligibility to apply for federal and/or
state grants
 
PURPOSE:
To allow for Regional Planning Councils the eligibility of state and
federal grants.
 
SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:
Amends the general municipal law to allow Regional Planning Councils the
eligibility of state and federal grants.
 
JUSTIFICATION:
Regional Planning Commissions as a rule work with local governments in a
coordinated and cooperative effort. They often coordinate local govern-
ment projects yet are not able to directly secure funding which can be a
barrier to or delay project completion.. Allowing RPCs to apply for
grants and funding will streamline the process which can help expedite
implementation of projects.
