TITLE OF BILL:
An act to amend the general municipal law, in relation to permitting the
town of Putnam Valley, Putnam county, to lease certain sports field
fences for advertisements
 
PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL:
Permits the town of Putnam Valley to lease sports field fences for
advertisements.
 
SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:
Section 1: Sports field fence leases in the town of Putnam Valley,
Putnam county. Notwithstanding any provision of any general, special or
local law or of any charter to the contrary, the town of Putnam Valley,
Putnam county, may lease fences of Leonard Wagner Memorial Park, annual-
ly, at a nominal rent, to a not-for-profit corporation or organization,
organized under the laws of the state of New York for the purpose of
permitting the sale of advertising, with the revenues to be used solely
by such town's department of parks and recreation.
Section 2: States the effective date.
 
JUSTIFICATION:
The Town of Putnam Valley would like to sell advertising space on the
fences of Leonard Wagner Memorial Park in order to increase the revenue
of the town's parks and recreation department and reinvest in sports
fields. Additionally, this may reduce the tax burden on residents of the
town.
