TITLE OF BILL:
An act to amend the education law, in relation to permitting schools to
allow trade unions to make a recruitment presentation in a high school
PURPOSE:
This legislation is intended to help trade unions recruit new members
within local schools.
SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:
Section 1. Amends the education law by adding a new section 807-e:
Trade Union recruitment. The principal of any high school shall allow
any trade union, upon request, to enter the school for the purpose of
trade union recruitment, including, but not limited to: making presenta-
tions; disseminating literature; and answering questions from students.
Section 2. Allows the act to take effect on the first of July next
succeeding the date on which it shall have become law.
JUSTIFICATION:
It is important for trade unions to be able to recruit new members.
