TITLE OF BILL:
An act granting retroactive membership with Tier IV status in the New
York state teachers' retirement system to Peter Guarino
 
PURPOSE:
The purpose of this bill is to grant retroactive membership with Tier IV
status in the New York state teachers' retirement system to Peter Guari-
no.
 
SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:
Section 1 of this bill would allow Peter Guarino, a member of the New
York State Teachers Retirement System, to be granted Tier IV status.
Section 2 of this bill provides that the effective date shall take
effect immediately.
 
JUSTIFICATION:
Peter Guarino has Tier V status in the New York State Teachers Retire-
ment System, this legislation will retroactively assign him to Tier IV.
Peter Guarino is currently a teacher at Fayetteville-Manlius School
District but substituted starting in June 2008 at Lansing CSD, Newfield
CDS, and Ithaca CSD. Given he started substitute teaching in 2008, Peter
should be assigned and eligible for Tier IV.
