TITLE OF BILL:
An act amend chapter 333 of the laws of 2006 amending the tax law relat-
ing to authorizing the county of Schoharie to impose a county recording
tax on obligation secured by a mortgage on real property, in relation to
extending the effectiveness thereof
PURPOSE:
The purpose of the bill is to extend provisions authorizing Schoharie
County to impose an additional mortgage recording tax for an additional
two years.
SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:
Amends chapter 333 of the laws of 2006, as amended by chapter 58 of the
laws of 2020, authorizing Schoharie County to enact an additional mort-
gage recording tax of twenty-five cents for each one hundred dollars of
debt until December 1, 2025.
EXISTING LAW:
The current authorization expires on November 30, 2023.
JUSTIFICATION:
This legislation needs to be renewed in 2023 so that the county can
continue to collect the additional tax without interruption. Requested
by the Schoharie County Board of Supervisors (Res. No. 29).
LEGISLATIVE HISTORY:
The law was previously extended by chapter 58 of the laws of 2020.

None to the state.

Immediately.
