TITLE OF BILL:
An act to authorize Douglas Brenning of the village of New York Mills to
take the competitive civil service examination for the position of
police officer and be placed on the eligible list for employment as a
full-time police officer for the village of New York Mills police
department
PURPOSE:
This bill would grant a waiver to Douglas Brenning to take the compet-
itive civil service examination for the position of police officer in
the village of New York Mills.
SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:
Section 1 allows for Douglas Brenning to take the competitive civil
service examination for the position of police officer in the Village of
New York Mills.
Section 2 stipulates that Douglas Brenning shall be subject to the merit
and fitness provisions of the civil service law.
Section 3 marks the effective date.
JUSTIFICATION:
Douglas Brenning, a part-time police officer, has been granted by the
mayor and police chief of the Village of New York Mills the opportunity
to seek an age-based waiver to take the competitive examination to
become a full-time officer with the village's police department. This
legislation would provide Officer Brenning with the opportunity to test
for the full-time position, as approved by the mayor and chief of the
village.
