JUSTIFICATION:
Consumer surveys have shown that one of the biggest barriers to the
adoption of electric vehicles is inadequate charging infrastructure.
With overreliance on fossil fuels worsening our climate crisis, electric
vehicles must increasingly play a role in our daily lives. The New York
Power Authority has an existing statutory goal to install publicly
available electric vehicle chargers. This legislation attaches a minimum
number of fast charging stations for residents to ensure that the
resulting infrastructure truly increases the viability of electric vehi-
cle ownership in New York.
