Existing law establishes a program under which the Office of Economic Development: (1) certifies small businesses that apply to the Office and meet certain criteria as local emerging small businesses; (2) conducts outreach to connect those businesses with state agencies seeking state purchasing contracts and contracts for public works of this State; and (3) encourages state agencies and local governments to establish goals for awarding purchasing contracts and contracts for public works to those businesses. (NRS 231.1401-231.1408) Existing law also requires the Office to provide such businesses certain information concerning specific programs to provide financing to small businesses. (NRS 231.14055) This bill provides that the Office is not required to provide such information concerning a program if funding is not available for the program.
