Existing law requires the board of trustees of a school district to purchase all new library books, textbooks and supplementary schoolbooks which are necessary and have been approved by the State Board of Education to carry out the mandates of the school curriculum to be used by pupils of the school district. (NRS 393.170) Section 1 of this bill requires each public school to establish and maintain in an electronic format a list of all print and digital materials available in the school library and all instructional materials used as a part of the school curriculum. The list must: (1) be posted in a publicly accessible location on an Internet website maintained by the school; (2) identify each item by International Standard Book Number, title and author; and (3) be maintained and updated as necessary to accurately reflect all print and digital materials available in the school library and any instructional materials used as a part of the school curriculum.
