The Nevada State Environmental Commission (SEC) serves as the primary rulemaking, variance, and appeal body for environmental regulations in Nevada. The Commission is an 11-member body that meets to establish regulations and resolve appeal actions for the Division of Environmental Protection. Expenses of the SEC are supported by fees. The SEC was originally established in the Air Pollution Control statutes (NRS 445B.200). Other statutes establish the jurisdiction of the SEC to adopt environmental regulations, set fees, and hear appeals.
