The Tax on Liquor Program supports increasing alcohol and drug use prevention programs, and detoxification and rehabilitation services for individuals. Priority is required to be given to areas with a shortage of alcohol use disorder services, the needs of counties to provide civil protective custody for persons who are found in public places while under the influence of alcohol, secure detoxification units or other appropriate facilities for persons who are arrested or taken into custody while under the influence of a controlled substance, and programs providing prevention services.
