The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act provides funding to states through the United States Department of Education. The grants are designed to assist states to provide Free and Appropriate Public Education, special education, and related services, in the least restrictive environment. The services are provided to improve inclusive practices, use of technology, student performance on statewide assessments including alternate assessments; transition from early intervention programs; behavioral success; graduation and drop-out rates; post-secondary outcomes; recruitment, retention, and professional development of special education personnel.
