The mission of the Bureau of Air Pollution Control and Air Quality Planning is to achieve, and maintain levels of air quality, which will protect human health and safety; prevent injury to plant and animal life; prevent damage to property; preserve visibility and scenic, aesthetic and historic values of the state; and implement provisions at the facility level to prevent accidental chemical releases in the state. To accomplish this mission, staff assigned to these bureaus plan, direct, coordinate, and control air quality monitoring, permitting, and compliance assurance.
