The Division of Museums and History Office of the Administrator is responsible for oversight and administration of the division office and the statewide museum system including: the Nevada State Museum; the Nevada State Railroad Museum located in Carson City, the Nevada Historical Society located in Reno; the East Ely Railroad Depot Museum; the Lost City Museum located in Overton; the Nevada State Museum located in Las Vegas; and the Nevada State Railroad Museum located in Boulder City. The state museum system is responsible for the collection, preservation, education, community development (cultural tourism), and the interpretation of objects and documents representing Nevada's history, while developing and preserving these collections for the public.
