Existing law creates the Nevada State Teacher and Education Support Professional Recruitment and Retention Advisory Task Force to evaluate the challenges in attracting and retaining teachers in Nevada and make recommendations to address those challenges. (NRS 391.492-391.496) This bill requires the Department of Education to develop or prescribe a school climate survey to evaluate the school climate for the staff of each of the public schools in this State. This bill also requires the Department to develop or prescribe an exit and transfer survey to be given to teachers who transfer, resign or are dismissed from a public school in this State in order to gather information to improve the efforts of this State to attract and retain teachers. This bill requires the board of trustees of a school district to administer both the school climate survey and the exit and transfer survey to staff within the school district. This bill requires the board of trustees of a school district to annually submit a report to the Department summarizing all of the responses to the surveys administered by the board of trustees in the immediately preceding 12 months. This bill requires the Department to annually publish a report summarizing all of the reports submitted by the boards of trustees.
