Existing law creates the Division of Outdoor Recreation of the State Department of Conservation and Natural Resources and requires the Administrator of the Division to perform certain duties relating to outdoor recreation in this State. (NRS 407A.540, 407A.570) Section 2 of this bill creates the Transit-to-Trails Task Force and sets forth the membership of the Task Force. Section 3 of this bill requires the Task Force to: (1) identify high-priority areas for a program to expand access to trails in this State using public transit; and (2) identify and apply for grants of money from the Federal Government and private entities for the expansion of public transit that runs to trailheads in this State.
Section 4 of this bill applies certain definitions relating to the Division to the provisions of sections 2 and 3.
Section 5 of this bill requires the Task Force to prepare and submit a written report describing the activities, findings and conclusions of the Task Force and any recommendations for legislation by August 31 of each even-numbered year.
