The mission of the Division of Water Resources (NDWR) is to responsibly manage Nevada's limited water resources in accordance with state law and best available science. NDWR is responsible for quantifying existing rights; monitoring water use; distributing water in accordance with court decrees; reviewing water availability for new subdivisions and condominiums; reviewing the design, construction and operation of dams; appropriating geothermal water; licensing and regulating well drillers and water right surveyors; reviewing flood control projects; collecting and monitoring water resource data and records; updating Nevada's water plan; coordinating drought responses; administering Nevada's flood program; and providing technical assistance to the public and governmental agencies.
