Existing law sets forth the annual compensation to be paid to elected county officers, including district attorneys, sheriffs, county clerks, county assessors, county recorders, county treasurers, county administrators and county commissioners. (NRS 245.043) Section 1 of this bill increases the annual compensation to be paid to elected county officers for: (1) Fiscal Year 2024-2025, 115 percent of the annual salary that was in effect for the elected county officer for Fiscal Year 2018-2019; and (2) Fiscal Year 2025-2026, and each fiscal year thereafter, the amount that was in effect for the elected county officer for the immediately preceding fiscal year plus the average percentage increase in the salaries of the classified employees of this State during the immediately preceding fiscal year. Section 1 also: (1) authorizes a board of county commissioners, by a majority vote of all the members of the board, to reduce the compensation to be paid to elected county officers for any fiscal year; (2) requires such reduction to apply equally to all elected county officers; and (3) eliminates obsolete language relating to salaries for certain fiscal years.
Section 2 of this bill makes a conforming change to reflect a change in the numbering made by section 1.
