Existing law requires every motor vehicle to be equipped with two or more stop lamps, with an exception for certain older vehicles that were manufactured with only one stop lamp. (NRS 484D.125) Existing law also authorizes motor vehicles to be equipped with certain additional equipment for lighting, including backup lamps, fender lamps and running-board courtesy lamps. (NRS 484D.205) This bill authorizes a motor vehicle to be equipped with a device which is integrated into the high-mounted stop lamp or a supplemental rear-mounted lamp and which displays a red light which flashes not more than four times in 4 seconds when the brake is applied, and then converts to a continuous red light until the brake is released.
