This bill enacts a new section of the Mathematics and Science Education Act, mandating the automatic enrollment of certain sixth, seventh, and eighth-grade students in available advanced mathematics courses based on specific criteria. Students will be automatically enrolled if they demonstrate the highest proficiency in grade-level mathematics on statewide assessments, end-of-course exams, or have earned an A in their most recent mathematics course. However, schools are not required to enroll a student automatically if the student's parent objects. Additionally, students or their parents can request enrollment in advanced mathematics courses regardless of automatic eligibility.

The bill also requires school districts and charter schools to report annually to the Mathematics and Science Bureau of the Public Education Department on various data points, including the number of eligible students, enrollment statistics, and performance metrics in mathematics. This data will be disaggregated by race, sex, and family income to ensure transparency and accountability. The bureau is tasked with compiling these reports and publishing them on the department's website while adhering to confidentiality laws regarding personally identifiable information.
