This bill amends Section 37-1-30 NMSA 1978 to extend the time period for individuals to commence civil actions based on childhood sexual abuse. Specifically, it changes the age limit for filing such actions from twenty-four years to fifty-eight years. Additionally, it establishes that the only statutory time or procedural limitation for these actions is outlined in this section, regardless of whether the action is against a private individual or a public entity.

Furthermore, the bill retroactively revives any actions for childhood sexual abuse that are barred on or before July 1, 2026, allowing those claims to be filed until June 30, 2029. The effective date for these provisions is set for July 1, 2026.
