This bill amends the Lobbyist Regulation Act to require lobbyists and their employers to file a new "lobbying activity report" with the Secretary of State. This report must disclose specific legislation lobbied, the position taken by the lobbyist or their employer (support, opposition, or other), and the name of the employer involved in the lobbying. The report must be filed within forty-eight hours of the commencement of lobbying activities and will be linked to the relevant legislation on the legislature's website.
Additionally, the bill modifies existing provisions regarding the preservation of lobbyist registration and expenditure reports, now including lobbying activity reports. These reports must be archived and accessible on the Secretary of State's lobbyist disclosure website for at least ten years, ensuring they are available for public inspection. The bill also mandates that all reports be maintained in searchable and downloadable formats, enhancing transparency and accessibility for the public. The effective date for these provisions is set for January 1, 2027.
