This bill amends Section 32A-3A-12 of the New Mexico Statutes to extend benefits previously available to foster families to include adopted children. Specifically, it provides that adopted children, along with foster parents and children in foster care, young adults in the fostering connections program, and children in the custody of the relevant department or tribal custody, will receive free admission to state-owned museums and state parks, as well as camping passes and fishing licenses.

Additionally, the bill defines "adopted child" as a person under the age of eighteen who was adopted while in the custody of the department or by a licensed entity authorized to place children for adoption. The eligibility for these benefits requires proof of identity, residency, and status as outlined in the bill. The provisions of this act are set to take effect on July 1, 2025.
