The bill amends the Liquor Control Act to permit individuals who are at least eighteen years old to deliver and stock packaged alcoholic beverages. Specifically, it allows minors aged eighteen and older to engage in the delivery of packaged alcoholic beverages to licensed establishments, as well as to stock such beverages. The bill also updates the language regarding the regulations governing minors in licensed premises, replacing the term "alcohol and gaming" with "alcoholic beverage control division of the regulation and licensing department" and changing "regulations" to "rules" in the context of the director's authority to classify licensed premises.
Additionally, the bill clarifies that minors aged eighteen and older can be employed by wholesalers to handle and deliver alcoholic beverages, as long as they are delivering or stocking sealed, unbroken packages. The previous requirement for minors to be licensed under the New Mexico Commercial Driver's License Act has been removed. The legislation aims to provide more flexibility in the employment of young individuals in the alcoholic beverage industry while maintaining regulations to ensure responsible practices.
