This bill proposes an appropriation of five million dollars ($5,000,000) from the general fund to the New Mexico Department of Health. The funds are designated for the New Mexico Health Service Corps, specifically aimed at supporting the recruitment and retention of healthcare providers who serve rural or underserved populations, as well as patients at federally qualified health centers.

The bill stipulates that out of the total appropriation, no more than two hundred thousand dollars ($200,000) may be allocated for administrative costs. Additionally, it includes a provision that any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2027 will revert back to the general fund.
