This bill appropriates $200 million from the general fund to the Board of Finance Division of the Department of Finance and Administration. The funds are designated for providing zero-interest reimbursable loans to political subdivisions in Chaves County that have been approved for federal public assistance funding. The loans are intended to support projects aimed at replacing or repairing public infrastructure damaged by flooding or debris flows, as well as projects focused on removing debris accumulations resulting from the storm event on October 19, 2024.
The bill stipulates that the division must require a reimbursement contract from any political subdivision receiving a loan, which mandates that the loan be repaid primarily using federal funding received for the related projects. Additionally, any unspent or unencumbered funds remaining at the end of fiscal year 2027 will revert back to the general fund.
