The proposed bill mandates that any advertisement for legal services that includes a monetary award for a client from a settlement or judgment must also disclose the amount charged to the client for those services. This new requirement aims to provide transparency in legal advertising, ensuring that potential clients are fully informed about the costs associated with legal representation.

To enforce this provision, the bill establishes a civil penalty of $500 for attorneys or law firms that fail to comply. The Attorney General, or a district attorney with permission from the Attorney General, is authorized to bring civil actions in district court to recover these penalties. Additionally, any penalties collected will be directed to the current school fund. The provisions of this act are set to take effect on July 1, 2025.
